Insurance Claim Advice

Hiya

I'm just looking for some general advice on making an insurance claim as I've never had to do one before.

Here's the background -

Came home from work to find that my hot water tank had burst and flooded through the kitchen ceiling, damaged caused is -

part of kitchen ceiling came down, wall damaged, oven damaged, 1 kitchen cupboard and 1 hall cupboard damaged and contents of both cupboards.

Can any one advise how much it costs to replace the hot water tank and if I can claim for the damaged contents of both cupboards, and if there is anything else I should be claiming for?

Not a happy money saver this morning.

Thanks in advance.
