sky multi rooms problem - please help!!

Options
Sorry if this is posted in the wrong place.
We have sky + and multi rooms. We have our main sky + box in the living room and a standard box in the conservatory. Sky connected it all for us a few years ago and connected the tv in main bedroom to living room. They have written to us to tell us that the phone line is not connected and the problem seems to be in the conservatory. I dont understand what the problem is but they want to charge us for a technician to come out and trouble shoot. I refused this and said we would sort it out ourselves becasue they wanted £60 for this service. Because we havent sorted it out yet they are now charging us more each month. Can someone please tell me what all this means - i feel like cancelling the whole thing.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks:o

It states in the SKY contract that all the box's must be connected to the phone lines for you to get the discounted £10 option. otherwise they can charge you the full subscription for all of your boxes.

All you should need to do is run a phone line extension from your socket to the Box in the conservatory and leave it for a day or 2. Make sure you do that once a month and you'll get the cheap Sky rate and stop the annoying letters.

but it probably the wires jut need punched in to the sockets again. The Sky installers are crud at using the punch tools!!

I had this problem a few years ago and told them that it was to much trouble to run a phone cable, so I would cancel. They told me that it was OK and I did not need it plugged in. Since then I have had a new sky box and up graded to sky+ in the multi room and still no phone cable. Hope this is some help.

We had this problem also. We took out one of the sky phoneline connections for the one upstairs as with the internet, the phone and another sky box it was starting to overload. Then we got a letter saying it must be plugged in or we would be charged the full price.
Anyway we plugged it in but the test didnt work so we rang Sky up who told us we would need to ring BT, so we did, who then told us it was Sky's fault. Anyway, when we rang Sky and told them about BT they offered to send someone out for free to check the connection for us.

So maybe its a bit like trying to barter for a better deal with the packages. Because BT had apparently blamed them they seemed pretty set on putting them straight.

Anyway - Part 2 of this.

One thing you might want to check is if you have multiroom and broadband on the same line that the 2 or more boxes are on (Basically if it all goes to the same phone socket) then you'll need to make sure that all the sky box phone lines are connected to a adsl filter so that sky can check that the box's are in the same location. So 1 ADSL filter per SkyBox phoneline.
Easy rule to remember, any analogue telephony device (telephone, fax machine, dial up modem, Sky box etc...) has to be run through a microfilter on a BT phone line carrying an ADSL service.
