RBS charged me £114 for unpaid DD!!!

Hi all,
This happened to me couple of weeks ago and is still ongoing, just wondered what youa ll thought and if anyone had any advice?!!

I am single mum of 2, am stay at home mom, I never go overdrawn in my account.
Last bank holiday, 2 gas and electric companies (Im changing supplier!) went to take their payments by DD, unfortunately, I think because of bank holiday, my child benefit had not yet been paid in - was the day after bank holiday it did go in - so the DDs were unpaid. I did have money in my account, but not enough to cover both payments.
RBS then charged me £114!!!!!
This made me overdrawn.
I did ring and spoke the branch manager, explained everything, and she agreed that I do keep my account in a good state and even wondered why they hadnt honoured the DDs or even just charged £35?!
Anyway, after two days of crying on the phone (vvv embarrasing!!) and banging on desks, I have managed to get back half of the charges...... Im still out of pocket though, and am really worried now that Im going to be charged next month for going overdrawn with no overdraft and that maybe Ill be charged by the G&E companies??!!
I did ring the G&E people and explained, but you know these call centres.....

I have written a letter to customer relations pretty much begging for the remaining £57 to be credited to my account and have also opened a new account elsewhere.

Im just not sure how long to leave it to see about a response to my letter?! And do you think Im right to get new account??
Has anyone else been charged this much before and does anyone know why this extreme amount?!!

Rach xx

114 = 3 x 38. 38 is the fee for one unpaid DD. Clearly you had 3 go unpaid.

thanks kavanne, have just gone and sold my wedding rings - have put the money into the bank account to cover - the dds will be taken this week!!
shame to sell my rings, but better cash in use than sitting in a safe eh?!!

my ex hubby got himself into a hell of alot of debt before we got wed, and didnt tell me - wouldnt have cared i loved him that much! anyway, just made me extra extra cautious with money and the thought of getting into trouble myself is sooo scary!! think im managing ok so far?????!
