Selling Aluminium Cans?
Comments
-
            Evening all,
Just to keep you posted, thanks to Ladmadds link I have contacted 3 of the 4 scrap merchants (local to work/home) two of whom happen to be on a very slight detour from my journey to work, the other is a local company about 3 miles from where I live! Yay result!
Two of the companies I contacted were offering 50p per kilo of crushed aluminium cans. One of those is the company that is local to me.
The other company, which incidentally I would pass if I took the different way to work, was offering 60p per kilo.
OK, so it's not going to make me rich but it will generate a bit of income for a little effort and travelling to work a different route once a month or so. I also think that, as my local council have not used the money they have earned from, not only all the aluminium cans I and other residents have given to them but all of the other recyclable materials too, to reduce my council tax I don't see why I should pay them cash each month and in materials each week too. Another thing is that I am supporting a local business.
Off to find a spot on the wall to place my can crusher now!
 Thanks again for the posts.

Out of interest, how many crushed cans makes a kilo?
I remember my grandad doing things like this when I was little. He would pick up every nail, screw and washer. I even remember him picking up a length of wire and stripping it at home to get the metal out. He used to take this to a scrap merchant for a few pennies. He did this all his life from a boy of 12 til he died.2014 = New Year, New Me0

A Stella can weighs 2grams. You will need 500 to make a kilo. At 50p a kilo you will need 10 cans to make 1p0

            Thanks for that Ramellous.
I guess the next thing to find out is how many crushed cans I can get into a black bag. Then how many full black bags I'll get into the car.
That's a lot of cans! So much for me taking a trip once a month or so, it's probably going to be a once a year trip! lol
Oh well, there's no harm in trying is there?
 Thanks again

I heard of someone who trailed around the town centre on a sat and sun morning around the backs of pubs etc to pick all the bagged empty cans up.0
