Selling Aluminium Cans?
Poosmate
Evening all,
I remember about 25 years ago my friend's mom used to have a black bag in her kitchen into which she would put all her kitchen foil and bottle tops (aahhh remember them? lol).
Anyway, my lodger drinks a lot of canned lager and cider so am collecting quite a few. I wondered if there is still a market for selling aluminium on such a small scale now?
If anyone know's of anywhere in Birmingham or Tamworth where I could take them for cash I would be grateful to know, otherwise I could wipe out my first year's profit by calling everyone in the phone book! lol
Any help would be gratefully accepted.
Thanks
Poo

if posh comes to shove, and you cant get a gd price, try Tesco, if they have a recycling plant, you get 1 point per 4 items, (1p unless your collecting for deals at that works out at 4p).xx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0

oooh I didn't know about that. Thanks Mum2one. I don't actually shop at Tesco but I know some of the clubcard voucher things go quite well on Ebay.
Do you know if they do this at their stores or do they have seperate recycling plants dotted about the place?
Thanks Ladsmadd, I'll check it out. I think I know the place and if it's the place I think it is it might be worth a slight detour going into work one morning a month.
Thanks

The best bet is check on Tesco website, as it will list what stores have the recylcing facalities. Ours takes glass, plastics, etc, not papers or cardboard, theres 3 adults, 1 child at our house, average fortnightly recycling we pick up 100 clubcard points.
Word of caution thou re Ebay and Tesco clubcard points, Tesco are clamping down on this in a roundabout way, as when the vouchers come out they have your name on it, think its from June this yr, the vouchers can only be redemmed by the card holder. If you dont collect them for the deals, its still free shopping. xxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
Hi Mum, thanks again for that.
I have a few contacts from the post Ladsmadd posted so will get on to that tomorrow if I can. Ooh look at the time - I really must get off to bed!
I will certainly tell my sister about the Tesco thing though because I know she shops there all the time.
Thanks again

Just bear in mind petrol costs of driving there and back and costs of storage of them (whether it be a bin bag etc...) may make it economically unsounds or not as profitable as you'd think.Money, Money, Money ..... Banks/Casinos/Bookies give me all you money its a poor mans world....0

Some stores do give points, think they would the ones on the pilot scheme when these machines went live.xx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0

Hi Ash,
I have some contacts from the first posters link and luckily they are not too far from where I work so only a minor detour maybe once every month or so. As for the storage, I have a large garage that I can use to store them so that's not a problem. Mom bought me a can crusher ages ago so I just need to find somewhere to mount it. I tried crushing cans by stamping on them once but it started to get a bit painful! lol
I think it's going to work out quite well for me. I'll have to keep you all posted. I'll try to call the places on my list tomorrow and get the prices - I can then post them here so if anyone else is thinking of doing it they may have some idea of what they might earn.
Thanks again all
