Two - 2 seater sofas - ideas what and where to get

I have a smallish second sitting room and want to get rid of aging cane furniture and get two fabric 2-seater sofas. Any recommendations where to go. Also what do you you need to pay to get something that doesn't fall apart in the first year but on the other hand not looking for them to last forever.

Went to a local Antique Emporium- got a Victorian Chesterfield which was re-covered in my own choice of material (£400) and in another bought two chairs and a drop down side sofa- all newly re-covered for £280- vintage 1930 ish. Big advantage for me is that they 'fit me' better than new settees which never seem to be the right size-bit like Goldilocks and the bears furniture.

Last year we enquired about having our 3 piece suite recovered and found the advice was forget it and buy a new one! A shame as our previous suite was recovered at 10 years old and lasted 10 more years and only given away as we wanted something different. Looked almost as good as new.

What about trying Freecycle? I am always seeing sofas given away on our local site.

Look on e-Bay. There are loads on there for collection. We bought one recently for £10. Ikea fabric model in excellent condition.

  • Ikea klippan sofa's are built crudely but look and feel much more expensive than you could find with a much higher quality £120 each and they are flatpacked into a single matress size.
Lets get this straight. Say my house is worth £100K, it drops £20K and I complain but I should not complain when I actually pay £200K via a mortgage:rolleyes:
