Hey Bunny lady
I think your SOA is looking pretty good - just see how it goes for a couple of months, and then if you need to re-jig it slightly then you can do. I would say that £250 p/m shopping is pretty reasonable for 3 people, especially if it includes clothes. We have been spending a similar amount on 4 people and to be honest have just had to increase it slightly because we were struggling a bit, but for 3 people I think it will be fine.
If you can, try to put a bit aside so you can buy school clothes for the whole year during the school summer holidays or the few weeks before and after them - the reason I say that is George/Tescos have very little stock for the rest of the year (ours has NO school trousers in Ryan's size at all at the moment), and we have just had to go and buy some from Next, which were twice the price.
The only other thing I can see that you have missed is your 'visiting Snaggles' budget."I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250 -

You don't want to buy yet anyway hun. Give it a couple of years then grab yourself a bargain. Us renters are clued up!0 -
I agree, if I didn't have a house, I wouldn't buy now. I'd be scared of being stuck in a negative equity position if house prices fall significantly.
Although if you do need a mortgage, I know a really lovely underwriter....;)"I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250 -
Your SOA seems spot on, the major thing is your in profit at the end.
Sorry to hear that your single, join the many of us single mums on here.
Youve certainly done your home work, just a thought, start a spreadsheet off, 1 for bdays and 1 x xmas, that way if you have any prezzies ready, you at least started. Im very sad and organised and do the spreadsheet and saved a fortune as I pick up prezzies throughtout the yr and then mark them off.
Try Quido for ins, that would be the major thing that you need, shop around as you may get a better deal from some of the other sites, I found house ins for a friend, basic cover £45 year, yet the dearest was £150, the companies excuse she wasnt taking out building ins, (shes in HA house).
The other thing I do is keep a bag of spare presents, just things that are £1.00 each, so when dd gets a party invite she calls it the magic bag, and gets 1 or 2 prezzies out depening on what shes pulled out.
Another bargain hunting tip - Argos - they have sales every month, the best ones are just after the catalogue changes, I average about 75% in stock of things that I want, but when your getting a bracelet reduced from £20.00 to £2.00, saves a fortune.xx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
Hi Snags,
Well, my extra money I get from things like eBay sales, Quidco etc will be my visiting Snaggles fund! (And I have LOADS I need to sell on eBay!) but thanks for the heads up re. uniforms. tbh, since they are both growing up so much I getting desperate for clothes for them. I'm also finding splitting their clothes between 2 houses a bit of a hassle because they are ended up with things like no pants or socks, silly I know but I have got to go and spend a few quid really. (and call me a snob, but I am NOT getting second hand pants for my kids!!!!!) but I will look on eBay for some bundles clothes wise.
(I also recently re-joined Freecycle)
Mum2one,
I do try to be organised re. birthday but you have some excellent suggestions. Last Xmas, the kids fav presents were actually from Poundland! lolEmpty pockets never held anyone back, only empty heads and empty hearts can do that -Peale0 -
Hi Bunny, I can't really offer any advice on your SOA as you seem to have got it sorted and so many people have said what I would have said. I just wanted to wish you all the best in your new life.
