A couple of months ago, I sold a dolls house and furniture. It was a childhood toy that had been gathering dust up the loft, and I realised it's currently quite collectable, so I advertised the various bits on ebay.
One buyer bought the washing machine, and paid by Paypal. I posted the item the next day, and dropped her an e-mail to say it was on it's way. She replied to say she wouldn't be home and could I give the delivery person her works address and mobile number, so they could let them know when it would be delivered. I thought this very odd at the time, and explained I've no idea who her postman is and if she was out, the postman would leave a card and she could collect the item from the local delivery office.
I've since had e-mails from her saying the item wasn't delivered. I just posted it first class and not recorded so all I have is a COP. I said I would contact Royal Mail regarding compensation and refund her, but asked if she could could contact the delivery office, just in case the item was there and the postie hadn't left a card.
I've had an e-mail back to say that the item isn't at the delivery office and the person there explained to her that Royal Mail don't deliver furniture.
I've just realised she was expecting a human sized washing machine! Quite how she thought I'd post it to her for £1 though is a complete mystery!
I don't know if they toy one is lost, or if she is just saying that because it wasn't what she expected
My other half is a postie and has been wetting himself laughing at the thought of carrying washing machines round in his post bag :rotfl:

No help at all to the OP but I had to share this story. A friend of hubby's had just decorated the hallway at home and his wife decided to finish it off she wanted an old fashioned mahogany hat stand. She went on e-bay and found the perfect one. Bid on it and thought she'd got a bargain as an umbrella was thrown in too for free! She got the item in the post a few days later......it was a dolls house one!!! :rotfl: She hadn't read the listing correctly in her excitement at finding what she thought was the perfect finishing touch :rotfl: :rotfl::heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0

Did she keep it though as a momento?
