Car Insurance Excess Question

Hi

This is my first post on this board so Im not sure if this has benn asked before but I hope someone can help.

I had a bump in my car (my fault as I hit person in front, at low speed) last week. There is slight damage to my front bumper but nothing major, we werent going to get it fixed on insurance as the lady I hit didnt seem to think her car had damage. However she is now claiming ( also for whiplash etc) so we have decided to proceed and get our car fixed as well.
My query is how much excess will I pay? Is it just the £250 I have for my repairs or do I have to apy an extra £250 for hers as well?
Sorry if thats a silly question but have never had to deal with this before so am all confused.
Many thanks to anyone who can help me

You only have to pay an excess for your own property damage. So, if you do not claim for the damage to your own car then you will not have to pay anything (apart from a higher premium next year!). If you claim for the damage to your car you have to pay the first £250 of the cost of repair.

Thanks very much for the quick reply raskazz , I am relieved now that it wont cost £500 , except maybe at renewal time, but we live and learn , no one was injured and I will be more careful now
