Carpet!?

Im living in a rented studio apartment at the moment and have a large amound of damp and some mould. They have looked at it today and say that the floor is gathering condensation due to the lack of ventilation but the problem is that the carpet was layed directly onto asphalt. Is it right that carpet can be layed this way or should it always have an underlay??

With many years of flooring experience I can honestly say that I have never encountered this issue before. I have laid carpets onto many many asphalt floors wether on underlay or not. I would have thought that your problem is more to do with lack of ventillation or circulation in the room. The carpet itself is breathable so condensation or damp where mould would grow shouldnt be an issue...
:confused:I have nothing better to do!!!!
