Fathers go Free on Fathers Day

Hi
I wasnt sure whether to post here or the Freebies board but as it is a Day Out have settled for here.

I am a volunteer at the Anson Engine Museum (also a registered charity) in Poynton, Cheshire so thought I should spread the good news about their Fathers Day offer. Full details/map/etc on the website www.enginemuseum.org We had several money saving visitors come along last year so I thought you might like to know it is happening again.
:T

For the fourth year running the museum is running a special offer to celebrate Fathers Day - bring your dad or granddad along today and they will get in free.

Geoff Challinor, Chairman of the museum said “My dad encouraged my interest in engines by giving me one to restore when I was only 14. This is my opportunity to say “thanks” to dads everywhere by making it a special day here at the museum. We intend to have several of our engines running that day to make it a really special Fathers Day” .

If you want to join Geoff and the volunteers on Sunday June 15th, Fathers Day, pop along between 10:00 - 17:00 to see the largest collection of engines in Europe. It is also a fantastic opportunity to see the Diesel Story Exhibition that has the 1st diesel engine to be built in the UK (and was only the 3rd ever to be built in the world) and the JCB Dieselmax444 engine that was used to break the world land speed record.

To add to the atmosphere that day engines will be running; there is a special Fathers Day Fun Sheet and the gift shop has a range of unusual gifts and hand made cards to make all dads and granddads feel extra special. Normal museum entry applies to all other visitors.

    Hi there
I went to your Fathers Day event last year and it was fantastic.

With an eye for a bargain I was hoping you might do it again this year but I think I would even have paid for a trip had you not done so. Now I can start dropping hints again about how much I enjoyed it last year and if they want to take me again this year all the better. :rotfl:

See you on June 15th again.

  • bit cheeky to ask but can you recommend anywhere locally to stay? I though the family could make a bit of a weekend of it so I get to spend more time at the museum and also have other stuff to do on the Saturday for the rest of the gang.

    any suggestions appreciated.

    Hi Fred
sorry for the delay, been off on holiday.

There are several excellent B&Bs and farm accommodation locally. Or as it's your special day you might want to trade up for a hotel. This is the link to the local Tourist board site, press the accommodation button to see what is around. http://www.peaksandplains.com/

The site will also give you ideas of what else is available in the area.

    Have fun chosing
