selling old textbooks

Hi, i'm trying to have a bit of a clear out of some old uni books and i was wondering the best way to do it. Is there enough interest on eBay for academic books or is it better to go to another place. I noticed on https://www.sellstudentbooks.com they charge 15% + 0.60p on every sale! Which seems a lot to me.
Any ideas on how i can sell them? I've left uni now so can't really put a list up on the dept noticeboards.

I'd look at Amazon. Most people I know would go there first to see about the books.0

hi,
I was going to suggest using www.academicbooktrade.co.uk but just popped over to check the url and its been shut down ...
Sorry all I can suggest is either use the site or what about advertsing around uni - like putting Offered signs up in the department etc to sell the students in the lower years of your course.

Edit: sorry just realised you have left so wouldnt be able too .... how about a round email to everyone studying your subject (if you can still access your account). They won't be able to "punish" you now for it ... or putting a note on a not on a web notice board like on facebook/myspace/loot etc.0 -
hi, i've done well on amazon selling textbooks x0

Amazon is good for selling books - they tend to go fairly quickly - sometimes I've sold them within 30mins of putting them online!!
I've used this site but only for fiction... might be worth having a look around to see if it's good for academic books

whats the % you give to amazon? - Say you sell a book for £10, how much do you get in your pocket once you've done postage and fees?Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0

hi,
I started usin academicbooktrade because I felt I was being ripped off left right and centre by Amazon - by the time they take their fees off you, thats most of the postage credit they "give" you. By the end of it I often ended up with £6-£7 which doesnt justify the trek down to the post office, queuing (for the all inportant proof of postage, just in case) and then to top it off the buyer moans about the amount of postage they have to pay ....
