Best way to refurbish pine bedroom units

My spare room is fulll of pine furniture. Three wardrobes, as good as new, but two bedside cabinets, dressing table and set of draws where tops are scratched but rest of these units not bad except one where several areas seem to have faded badly.

Would it be as simple as leaving the good units alone then sanding down, mainly the tops of the other units, and putting varnish on.

Any suggestions would be good but worried if treating part of a unit will look a bodge and whether they will all still look like a matching set. Also what varnish to get?

Hiya chickmug, take a look at the Shabby Chic thread for inspiration for 'doing up' pine furniture.
