can i apply for family fund?

hiya all, i was just wondering if anyone has goting this, for help with driving lessons?
i get HIGH RATE DLA for my son who has hydrocephalas, (sorry cant sell it).
I really want and really need to start to drive as he has loads of appointment at the hospitals. and if i could drive it would really help, as i wouldnt have to take time off work, as at the mo i have to use the bus and it takes 1 hour just to get to one of the hospital.
Ive also read that they give help for holidays, do they pay for all the family or just my son with the problem? eg me and my other son.
thanks

he was born with it as he hafd a bleed on his brian. AS he was 10 wks early.
he goes to a delvelopment doc, hearing doc, and a concultant for his head, as they may need to put a shunt in to help drain the fluid propaly.

yes you can apply to the family fund for driving lessons.

i don't know if you have used them before? if you havent then you can apply straight away, first awards are higher than subsequent awards so you could put driving lessons and a holiday.
if you have used them before then obviously you are aware you can only use them once in a 12 month period, dates would be on letters recieved from them.

When they help with holidays they give you an amount to put towards it, which might not meet the full cost depending on how you budget and where you go, payments r usually around £350-450 it is help towards family holiday's not just for your son.
