Hi peeps
A few question's please:
If I see something advertised that I want, and someone else wants it, who decides who has it?
Do I have to visit the persons home to collect the item, or is there a central location, I'm worried about advertising something and just anyone turning up.Click here for Martins (MSE) advice on who to contact with Debt Issues - YOU HAVE NO REASON TO USE A FEE PAYING DEBT MANAGEMENT COMPANY- THEY CANNOT DO ANYMORE FOR YOU THAN THOSE LISTED IN MY LINK ABOVE.
All information given by myself is offered informally and without prejudice - if in doubt seek help from a qualified and insured professional0 -
10past6: Hi there, and thanks for considering Freecycle!
It is up to the Offerer who gets the item being offered. The person may get loads of requests for the item so the emails will be read and whichever email they like the best then that's who gets chosen. Simple, the ball is in the offerers court.
The requests go direct to the Offerer via email and are not posted on the Freecycle site. Once it has been Taken the Offerer will post a Taken message on the boards or the taker posts a Received with thanks message......I make it sound so confusing!!!
Where you pick up an item is between you and your 'cycler.
It could be at their home, usually is (if you feel uncomfortable going alone then take a friend) or you could suggest that you meet up together on a mutual trip to Sainsbury's or similar.
Cruella and others: Being a Moderator I get all the emails in my inbox for me to edit/approve/delete (yes we do delete some!). This can mean getting up to 30 a day for my area.
So it may be worth having your setting set to No Email and read the messages everyday on the site itself.

I joined my local Freecycle group. Some things I gave away were collected ok but I eventually got fed up of all the timewasters who arranged to pick things up but never arrived!
Got a skip instead.0 -
Freecycle is useful, but most of the items offered seem to go to people who grab everything offered or stick the gifted items on ebay, which is a big shame.0

Freecycle is so worth it. I got rid of so much of my DH's old crap, it was fantastic. We donated loads of VHS tapes to someone who needed them for charity. You join, then wait to be confirmed. Shouldn't take long though.0
