    We are not the only house who has complained, we know of 2 others who have complained also (but there are no disputes). OK the police have it on record but does that count as a dispute? We did briefly mention it to the EA but they didn't think there would be a problem.
  • Why? If you are asked direct, or have to sign something declaring whether you have or have not, else where is the legal obligation stated?

    Thats the point you do have to sign something before exchange stating that you have not had a dispute with your neighbours, or if you have had a dispute what the dispute has been.

    My advice is be honest, and don't worry it is unlikely to put off your potential buyer as it is not an immediate neighbour.

But it is otherwise not the sort of information you would readily volunteer, unlike say the reason you're moving is because there is to be a dual carriageway through your front room in 6 months time etc!

    Yep totally, there is no point in volunteering information that you dont have to, as ultimately someone else might not mind whatever your reason for moving is.

    Many thanks everyone for all your advice it was really helpful. Cheers. If anyone finds out any additional information, it would be good to know. We don't think now that its as much as a problem as we first thought and think its best to keep quiet as she is not an immediate neighbour and at the end of the day if they want the house then a neighbour adjacent in another street is irrelevant to a neighbour either side.
