Pre paid.??
Evening all.
I have a pre-paid electric meter with BG and its currently costing somwere in the region of £60 a month..!!!
What is the best way to get this removed and fitted with a standard meter, is it better to switch at the same time or just get BG to do it.
Does it cost to have the meter changed.
Many thanks.

Ring BG and ask them to change it.
Provided you haven't been a 'problem' and have been with them some time they should change it free of charge. They need some confidence that you will pay your bills on time; it is possible that they could ask for a returnable deposit.
It is unlikely that a switch to a new company, followed by a request to change meter will work.
Many, not all by any means, customers are on pre-pay meters because of a history of poor paying, so the companies have reason to be wary.0 -
Thanks.
Ive no problems at all with paying and ive been with them for at least 6 years,The meter was in the house when we moved in about 12 years ago and although more expensive it sure makes you watch every unit you use.!!
Do you think that at £60 a month its expensive..?? i dont know how other people compare. Its just your average 3 bed semi.'Beware of little expenses. A small leak will sink a great ship'. -Benjamin Franklin.0 -

£60 is cheap if you are electric only.
Expensive if you have gas!
The average household spends over £1,000 pa on gas/electricity, with all electric being more expensive than gas.
Given your history, I would think BG would change your meter without problem. But do it with BG as they have your history; other companies don't.
You can always change later, but BG click 5(an internet account) is pretty competitive.0 -
I have both gas and electric from BG, gas for the heating a gas hob electric for oven and everything else....Including a well used tumble dryer.(used everyday)'Beware of little expenses. A small leak will sink a great ship'. -Benjamin Franklin.0
