connection keeps dropping

I have a laptop and am on Orange using a Livebox. The last day or two, I'm having problems. No problem connecting, but it keeps dropping off. The little icon (2 computers, a little circle, flashing) is in the system tray and if I hover the cursor over it, it says it's connected, but it's not flashing. This keeps going on and off, and when I try to open a page, I get "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage"

Any ideas? FOrgive me, I'm not at all techie,

THanks for reading.

Have you checked the status lights on the Livebox? This should show whether it is losing synchronisation with the equipment in your exchange. If so, report it to Orange as a fault.

If not, errr... I don't know.

3 solid lights and I'm sat next to it. I've rung Orange for a status check and it's all up and running. Grrr this annoys me so much!!!

Thanks for replying; I think I'll have to give them a ring tomorrow.

Good luck trying to ring them......
Their tech support is down aswell due a high number of calls.
The service went down a couple of days ago, Orange say the service is back up and running but it took me nearly ten minutes to load the MSE forum. I've done all the usual stuff Highjack this, Spybot, Spyware doctor, antivirus etc.etc. and nothing. So I tried Linux on my dual boot, still nothing.
I think it may just be a case of waiting for Orange to pull their finger out and fix the problem.

I wouldn't bother listening to Orange when you ring them for a status check they never admit to the problem unless the trouble has been going on for a few days or is going to take awhile to fix.

Here's the Orange Broadband engineer service number if all you're ringing for is a service status check: 0845 330 7124. It's quick, painless and straight to the point.

Thank you Ammie and Tom. Couldn't reply at work for some reason. All back on now, Just glad it wasn't just me - I thought it was a problem with my new laptop! Fed up of Orange, wish I wasn't tied in.

This seems to happen quite a lot with Orange for some reason.
But its what you would come to expect from a company called Wannado, or freeserve, or whatever they call themselves lately.

I too, if I had known, would not have touched them with the proverbial barge pole.
