Attitude towards money

-
I've always been pretty good about knowing the value of money but got into bother by never being able to stop spending it.
However, in the last few months I have certainly started to change how i think. This has even been noticed at work where I have been making little changes which are saving us quite a bit without even realising it.0 -
I think i've had to completely change the way I use my money. My attitude is completely different to what it used to be and a couple of people even said to me recently that i'm good with money! (To which I replied- that's because i've not got any!) I just wish my family and expecially my husband would begin to change their attitudes. My Mum is used to me being rubbish with money and nearly got me a bank charge last month- to which she said 'oh well you can claim it back'! Still makes my blood boil!!!!! And my husband doesn't care about our finances at all. He says all the right things but does what he pleases anyway!
My attitude haas completely changed. I couldn't care less if people thnk i'm 'tight' now! In fact, I'd rather be tight than in a load of debt I can't afford!
Phew...rant over...

Thanks, it was my parents that noticed the change in me before I noticed it myself! Funny how you don't see what is happening under your own nose isn't it. We have come really far haven't we?!Thanks for the advice Martin! :money:Member no. 920 - Proud to be dealing with our debts0 -
Since being on JSA I have had to learn the value of money, I have become a real tight wad. I was out in town today (bagging a freebie) and decided to treat myself to a cream meringue from Druckers (for those that don't have one near them, this is a Vienniese patisserie) I didnt eat in so saved myself 35p but I felt as guilty as hell when I ate it when I got home - how could I justify spending £2 on a cake0

Yes - a complete 180 for me too. And my Dad also told me recently how proud he is how I am so financially switched on now and that it's lovely that I am now teaching them things.
Changed my attitude to shopping etc too.

Evening all,
I just wondered if anyone else's attitude towards money had changed since embarking on their debt free journey. My parents commented today that for the first time ever I seem to be responsible with money (I'm 32!) and it got me thinking. I now respect my money much more and am much more protective of it, in the past I would not have thought twice about bank charges, now I would be really upset if I got one!
Anyone else changed???

My attitude has totally changed. It had to. My previous relationship with money got me £38k in debt.
But now I've paid of nearly £30,000 and have almost saved up enough to rent somewhere and kit it all out. :T0 -

Absolutely. It makes a massive difference to quality of life when you are in control of your money and know where every penny goes. I feel happier just knowing I cna pay my billls...It might not always be easy, but it is possible at last!

I definitely agree, my quality of life has massively improved and I am able to sleep at night. The best thing is that the nasty telephone calls have stopped. Thanks for the advice Martin! :money:Member no. 920 - Proud to be dealing with our debts0
