Help dumbfounded by solicitors

We have been trying to exchange for over a week now.Our solicitor is ready to go but our buyers are using a "factory" type conveyancing firm who seem completely inept and are holding things up.We waited all last week to exchange then on Friday they announced they could not complete without a legible signature from their client. We had to wait all weekend with little or no sleep our stomachs in knots.Monday morning came and our buyers went into their offices to give the required signature. Our solicitor began chasing when nothing was heard and then at 4.30pm were told that the exchange could not be completed as their was a small balance outstanding ??
Our solicitor, EA and buyers are dumfounded and we are scared to death that things are gonna go t#ts up as it were and lose our sale. The EA tried to chase and the solicitor told them abpruptly that they will not give details.
I will be speaking to my solicitor in the morning but will have another agonising night without sleep. What is going on ?

I hate to say it but this is exactly the sort of screwing about that went on just before we lost our last sale. They started picking at little details - almost as if they couldn't bring themselves to tell us.
Hope that's not what's happening though and i'll keep my fingers crossed for you.
All the best, Rob.0 -

The buyers seem very keen they had to pay for searches and surveys twice because their first mortgage offer was refused and they re-applied for a second. They have also been communicationg openly. It seems to be the solicitor causing the problems ??0 -
I really hope it all works out for you
very best of luck and try to sleep if you can0 -

That's a very good sign. Sounds like it's just a matter of staying cool and waiting it out. It's hard I know but try to follow this;
Accept the things I cannot change, have the courage to change the things I can and have the wisdom to know the difference.
There is nothing more you can do to make this happen, just keep doing what you have been (keeping in touch with everyone you can) and it will all turn out for the best.0 -
OMG
Just read a blog with several bad reviews on our buyers solicitors.
"Inexplicable delays without apology"
"You never speak to the same person twice"
"Guaranteed misery and heartache"
I wish I had`nt found it what the hell are we going to do.0 -
please try to go to sleep and forget about all of this until the morning. Then you can contact your solicitor who can chase things up for you and hopefully will kick a bit of a@@e. I think you are getting yourself in a state and I can recognise that cos I've been in one, and the damage it will do to you is not worth a lost sale believe me.

What can you do? Nothing I suspect is the answer.
If you're drinkers, open a bottle.
If you're religious then pray.
If you're neither drinkers nor religious then an early night might take your mind off things if you know what I mean.0 -
Same boat my friend, to make it worse, our FTB solicitors have stated they want to exchange/complete this Friday, I can see it all going wrong! I'm trying not to drink, but I may open some wine.......0

There have been no bad reports on them since 2006... maybe they sacked most of the bad ones.
Just go to sleep. Whatever will be will be.0 -
They won some conveyancing awards in 2007 and 2008
Can't have done that if they were total poo.
I used a similar firm when I sold my house. Shower of idiots, never got back to me, wouldn't tell me when exchange would be. In the end I just said "oh do what you like" and ended up with 2 days between exchange/completion when I'd needed 2 weeks (to clear the house), but I thought the sale was more important than risking losing it by changing the completion date we were heading for. because they'd never kept me in the loop.0
