I must've been walking around with my eyes and ears closed!!

These guys provide top-quality gaming laptops and I hve had 2 off them in recent years. They have also been fair, curteous, forward thinking and innovitive. I was shocked when I read the above link!

It seems that all is righting itself from the following link:

I hope so as these guys offered comparable specs to Alienware at a better price with a 3 year warranty as standard. They would be a sad loss to the computing industry.

Did anyone else hear about this beforehand or indeed, can anyone expand on the situation?

Reported in the local press over the last 6 months or so, an employee appropriated some £200,000 of Rocks funds by redirecting invoice payments. They have apparently spent this money on expensive cars and lifestyle so nothing left.

Employee has been sent to prison but it would appear that the loss of this money has helped cause Rocks spiral into administration.

If you search on the local press ie Leamington Spa courier you may find reports of the court case if you want more details.

Rock were a good company, I have had experience of 6 or so laptops in the past.
However I think the advent of the £300 laptop will not have helped Rocks trade.

    Thanks mate.

It appears that they have been bought out and will continue to trade as per normal (according to their website). I have been out the country for 5 months and must admit, I knew nothing of their demise/rebirth.

It's a shame as they are a professional outfit and very friendly over the phone etc.

As for the cheap laptop bit - I think they've always been around (time, tiny, supermarkets etc), but I feel with computers, you usually get what you pay for and a real genuine 'bargain' is hard to come by!

    Thanks for the info.
