Hi folks,
I'm looking to make a journey from Edi - Lon by train going down on Thu 1 Dec and returning Sun 4 Dec.
I have just been quoted £25 ie two single tickets at £12.50 each. The usual - book in advance, can only get on one train etc etc.
Does anyone have any codes to make it cheaper?
(I can't use a rail card on this ticket by the way).
Any offers on?

Why not fly down,it's ''free'' the only cost being the airport charges which iirc are around £12.
This is one of a few carriers which may suit...http://www.ryanair.com/site/EN/fares.php?dest=STN&base=PIKDon’t be a can’t, be a can.0 -
£25 return for an 800-mile round trip sounds pretty reasonable to me.0

i considered flying and have done plenty of times in the past but:
1. edinburgh to london (any aiport)- £40 is the cheapest i can find. and then I have the added cost of getting from airport to central london - at least £10.
2. i could fly from Glasgow Prestwick - Stanstead for £25 (£0.01 each way + taxes). then i have to get from Stanstead to central london -- about £15 if I am not mistaken. I would also have to get the train from Edinburgh to Glasgow Prestiwck - at least a 90 minute journey and about £6! so that would be ~£46 and probably take longer than the train all in all.
3. Edi - King's X on train - I get off right in the centre of London!!!! It is only a 4.5 hr journey. Quite reasonable.
I was just looking to see if I could make it any cheaper at all but I think I have hit the nail on the head with the £25 ticket.A banker is a fellow who lends you his umbrella when the sun is shining and wants it back the minute it begins to rain.0 -
If you really can't afford the £25.00 why not try hitch hiking ?0

How about Megabus for £1 each way (plus a 50p booking fee)?
Their coaches are all airconditioned now and the brand new double deckers which are really lush
Or you could try a funfare from National Express but be warned their coaches are really clapped out and uncomfortable especially for a long journey from Edinburgh - London.

i totally forgot about megabus.
i am slightly restricted in my time though.
i can only leave in the evening on the thursday and have to be back in scotland fairly sharpish on the sunday to prepare for the following week at work.
cheers for the suggestion though.A banker is a fellow who lends you his umbrella when the sun is shining and wants it back the minute it begins to rain.0 -

Provided you book well in advance and are prepared to restrict your journey by having a 'closed' ticket you should get something cheaper than £12.50 each way.
****closed - by this I mean you must travel on only one specific train down and the same back up
