I have online billing with BT (standard pack £10.99/month). I usually always do a research sort of with my landlines and mobile number as to what number i call for how many minutes and how much each call costs me..
on checking my BT online billing, based on 7-8 calls i have made i came across the fact that :
1. from BT 0845 numbers cost me : £0.025p/min - 1899.com costs 3p/min + (i think) 3p connection charge
2. from BT 0870 numbers cost me : £0.064p/min - 1899.com costs 7p/min + (i think) 3p connection charge
i am sure my research is right coz i have my 1899.com statement in 1 hand and my BT statement in the other hand. BT is still some pennies cheaper + i get my BT statement once every 3 months, unlike 1899.com which debits the amount every month.
thank you

You are right about the NGN (0845/0870) for which BT is cheaper but 1899 is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay cheaper to 01/02 numbers (which most of my calls are made to) and also to mobiles. On the whole 1899 saved me loads compared to BT on its own. :beer:Do I want it? ......Do I need it? ......What would happen if I don't buy it??????0

I dont think any one has ever claimed that 1899 are cheaper then BT for 0845/0870 NGN calls.
BT tend to be the cheapest provider of calls to 0845/0870 numbers offpeak, but you will find that https://www.18185.co.uk ,1899 sister company is cheaper at peak rate then BT.PF.0 -
thats true ! 1899.com is way cheaper for 01/02 numbers but not 0845/0870. i thought 1899.com was cheaper for 0845/0870 numbers as well.0

See my posting above your last one.1899 do offer calls to 0845/0870 but they are not the cheapest kids on the block. They are however slightly cheaper then BT at peak rate only!!!PF.0 -

I think you will find that everyone posts to use 18866/1899 for 01/02 or geographical calls but never suggest you use them to dial 0845/0870 numbers.

Wow! BT have a position for you in their (dubious) marketing department!alykhalil wrote:I have online billing with BT (standard pack £10.99/month). Comparing oranges with apples is a common marketing ploy and you have used the classic VAT scam as your first (the BT prices you quote are excluding VAT whereas the 1899 prices are including VAT).
Also, BT has a minimum call charge of 5p. 1899 has a connection charge of 3p but no minimum charge. You can argue the 'benefits' or otherwise of that one to your heart's content.Their - possessive pronoun (owned by them e.g. "They locked their car").
They're - colloquial/abbreviated version of 'They are'
There - noun (location other than here e.g. "You can buy groceries there") OR adverb (in or at that place e.g. "They have lived there for years") OR adverb (to or towards that place e.g. "Go there at noon") OR adverb (in that matter e.g. " I agree with you there").0 -

For 0845 ntl charge ...4.5p 2.25p and 1.45p (peak, evening, w/end)
For 0870 ntl charge...7.99p 3.85p and 2.99p ( " " " )
Not sure if this is all subject to a set up cost of 5p each
One of the cheapest combinations is:
0845 - Dialaround (2p), BT 1p and 1p (peak evening w/end)
0870 - 18185 ( 4p ), BT 3.75p and 1.49p (peak evening w/end)
18185 has 4p connection charge also...
Hope this helps...
