More wireless woes.... sorry!
Bt Home Hub
Windows Vista
Bear with me as i am new to wireless..... and not to hot with I/T/ either...
I set it up for my daughter on her new lappy about 6 mths ago.... all has been well apart from the occasional "it wont connect Dad".... which was usually easily sorted (operator error!) however this time our hub does not apprear on the available list to connect to??? Then it does.. then it doesn't....... when ever it reappears it is with a strong signal?? When i manually try to connect I get a message saying......... "wireless association failed because windows did not recieve any response from the wireless router or access point".... ie its prob dropped out again!
Its a BT home hub, there is occasional flickering on the 4 lights on the unit?? mainly the data and internet lights?? I have tried a power down and re-start wothout change. As i say, It looks to me as if its dropping out of view every few seconds??
The wireless icon in the bottom tray fluctuates between the (2 pc screens with a cross) not connected, to the wireless connected (increasing bars logo), every couple of seconds and then it stops on the disconnected logo. This is probably the auto connect trying but failing. Then a couple of mins later it starts to flash again??
It is set to auto connect on start up with our hub?
I have been all around the houses with this and am none the wiser?? Plug in the hub cable and it connects straight away no problem as it does to the main PC in the house.
Any help welcomed by this struggler with I.T. !

try going into the admin panel and changing to Manual channel selection on the wireless, could be another wireless device clashing with your signal
click on
http://bthomehub.home/
to get the admin panel
user ID and password is admin (password may be serial number of the hub ) unless you changed it
it's under AdvancedEx forum ambassador

Also consider it may be an issue with the pc, i would try and connect via a cable for a day just to confirm it is actually the wifi side of thingsclick here to achieve nothing!0

Our home hub was a nightmare for this - for some reason our neighbours used to switch off their wireless when they weren't using it. As soon as they put it on - we'd get shunted off. Over and over again - even after switching channels (neighbours on every channel  )
Our solution: http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatSectionView.process?Section_Id=206583My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -
Thanks Peeps,
All sorted after some tooing and frowing (spelling??) Any way we had to juggle between a few channels to find the best signal for the room she uses the lappy in most etc.
I had tried changing channel previously but only from 1 to 2... after trying most we settled on 13 as the best... for now!
Ta very much.... learning every day! Just not catching up!!I save so I can spend.0
