Plenty of 'market falling' stories on parent House Buying, Renting & Selling board..

What a difference six or seven months makes, eh?
There was an upsurge in posts from the better informed MSEers precisely as the market peaked last September/October warning of what was to come which provoked a storm of protests from some.
Result: People warning about the changing market marginalised and their opinions ghettoised into a single thread, just so the sheep-like loudmouths could feel better about their 'property investments'. Lots of people who might have benefited from an informed, non-mainstream opinion denied that chance.
Around half a year later and oh how the outlook has changed. :rotfl:
If I said that "I don't like to say I told you so" then I'd be lying - I'm quite happy to rub it in to the shortsighted idiots who don't want to hear the truth because it spoiled their worldview.
What a pity that stupid, overbearing people like that managed to disadvantage members of the public coming to MSE to look for advice that might save them some money.

Every pound less borrowed (to buy a house) is more than two pounds less to repay and more than three pounds less to earn, over the course of a typical mortgage.

Good post, but a lot of people were just coming here looking for confirmation they were doing the right thing anyway, and didnt want to hear any other opinion.0

lol. what an absolute load of tosh.
I have just looked at posts way back in 2000 (this is money), and how people were predicting a crash. You were probably hoping back then as well.
Now I am in not disputing the facts that its very bleak and things are hitting the fan, and there is more yet to come. What I find amusing is now people are bragging of how they are "proved" right in there prediction, it is what people have been uttering for years. The truth is noone from gordon brown to all the experts, to me and you, has any idea what is going happen from one year to the next. Anyone with half a brain cell knew things were going get tough back in september because of USA, but that is still pretty much short term, long term noone has any idea.Debt free. March 2020
Mortgage free-August 2021
Planned retirement date- 19/5/2026
£29500 saved. Target £420000(19/05/2026)0 -

I'm referring to the specific upsurge in posts in the 'House Buying, Renting & Selling' parent group at Sept/Oct time (which we can now see, coincided with the top of the actual market) which pointed out the imminent demise of the market and which lead to the creation of a single, sticky thread to keep dissenting opinions quiet.

...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0

I thought that MSE was an abbreviation for money saving expert, not massive self ego!0
