Does the Tesco RAC clubcard thing work for existing customers? if so how do you do it at renewal time? I've only ever used club points towards shopping is it easy to use them for other things?
Thanx

I've not done it before but I imagine it works for existing customers. I would give them a call but I expect you have to convert them into deals tokens first, there is an order form on the Tesco website you can print out. Fill it in and send it off and you will get the tokens back. Then call RAC to renew but tell them you are paying with clubcard vouchers.“A budget is telling your money where to go instead of wondering where it went.” - Dave Ramsey0

I wondered this as well and emailed the RAC to ask if this was possible.
I got a reply telling me it was although the author didn't tell me how to do it - so any information you find out in this respect would be well appreciated!2014 Target;

You can't get Home Start through deals, so if you want it then upgrading by paying full price to RAC is how they recoup the money0

I did it. Have to get the deal token/form from Tesco for whichever deal you wanted. Send it off to RAC and mention your memebership number in that form. They will send you the new cards. Takes 2 weeks longer than normal renewal but you are covered in the meantime.0

I rang the RAC and they said it can be done but to start putting it in motion about a month before the renewal date as it takes longer plus it would have to be started as a new policy. As new policys don't cover for the first 48 hours its best to ask if it can be started 2 days before the old one runs out if they can do that. No homestart but if you upgrade to homestart would you have to pay the proper price you'd have had to pay in the first place or do they just add the difference from recovery to homestart?
My Daughters recently paid the full price for recovery and rescue without homestart coz she couldnt afford to add home start. But they said she could add homestart at the time of actual breakdown at home if needed but not in the event of accident for recovery. She was going to go for the £29 AutoAid one that Martin recomended but she'd not have been covered for the first 48 hours so couldnt risk it as she was traveling a lot then, so she had to go with renewing her rac. The only reason we are looking into the rac for next time is because of the tesco vouchers and the fact that she's a student nurse now and wont always have the money to hand if she breaks down or anything to pay there n then even though shed get a refund with AutoAid. Once her financial situation is better though she will go with AutoAid because it seems better than the rac one and has homestart, you just have to know you have the money available then reclaim it backThanx
