Hi frugal lass
Personally - I agree with you. Privileges bring responsibility. He should hold the same standards for himself as he holds for the rest of you.
However - you can see the other replies and, from this, see this is still not yet the majority attitude in Society as it stands at present. So - not sure there is owt you can do whilst majority opinion thinks differently.0 -
As dmg24 said, it's all about whether the department is making money and hitting targets - this is all that will really concern the board.
I've worked with people who were pathologically bone idle, but were 'seen' around the office, and therefore the perception was that they were working.
In short, I'd prefer an invisible doer to a visible slacker!______________________________Darth Traderusing the Force of Compoundingsince a long time ago...0 -
some interesting thoughts and suggestions thank you......
if he 'works from home', which I very much doubt, surely he could have made the bank phone call from there?
he isn't the overall boss of the organisation - we are all employed by the Board of Directors and are answerable to them.
We are not a bunch of troublemakers and I am not bitter, we all work extremely hard and feel a bit let down by the director who doesn't pull his weight at crucial times. He has phoned in sick at least 5 times in the past 6 months, each time due to a 'cold' that he caught from his small children.0 -
I agree with the majority here, but I am sure he cannot read out bank details in the presence of other people: is this not in breach of the Data Protection Act? I'd be angry as hell if anyone disclosed my bank details to someone who I had not authorised it to.0

Before becoming self employed, the director of the company I worked for behaved similarly, often worse. In a nutshell he was a nice enough guy but completely and utterly cr*p. Instead of getting my knickers in a twist about it though, I accepted the fact that people like this are in charge all over the uk, and as a minion I either put up with it or get out. So I got out.0

Why? Do you honestly think he would have all the payroll at home?0 -

How long has he been in post, and how long have you been in post?
You must have a grievance procedure so if you really want to pursue this, follow that. If he's new or new-ish and the Trustees feel the same, they may be glad to have your views. If you're new or new-ish maybe you need to give it longer. Either way think carefully about how you phrase things if you want to stay there.
And frankly, I really really wish people would NOT come into the office when they've caught a cold from their young children if they can't then keep it to themselves! Obviously it depends how bad the cold is, but we've had some really evil bugs go all round the office which started as colds. If people had stayed home the rest of us might have stayed fit!Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
