Options to get Sky

Hi All
I’ve had tenants in my house for the last 2 years. In the next month or so the wife and I are going to actually move in ourselves. The tenants have had sky installed. Looks like they went for a multiroom option. So one living room and one upstairs bedroom has sky wires in them. There is also a Sky dish outside.
So, with this in place what’s the best option for me to have sky. I suspect that the tenant cancelled his account before leaving. Am I able to get free sat with the existing dish and wiring, meaning do I just go out and get a receiver box.
Ideally I want a Sky + type device which will let me receive all the channels and enable me to record if I wished.
Opinions much appreciated
Regards

Is the cable to one room a double or a single?
What sort of channels do you want?0 -
To the living room downstairs it's a single cable but upstairs is a double. I'm after as many channels as I can get without paying a premium

I've got sky freesat, I just bought a second hand sky box from ebay and plugged it into the existing socket on the wall. You have to buy a viewing card for a one off £20 payment to unscramble ch4 and ch5. You dont get e4 or more4 although rumour is that they are being added this year. There is also the option of the bbc/itv freesat now as well. I found the digital spy Freesat forum really useful when I was deciding what to do, these guys have all the technical knowhow...

The double cable could run a sky+ box. You could buy one off ebay & then buy a card You could then buy a box & card for downstairs. Or you could split the double cable & run 3 boxes buying a DVD recorder for recording stuff.0
