Rather an odd cry for help this time.:o
I have masses of sugar in my storecupboard:
500g unrefined light muscovado cane sugar
500g unrefined demerara cane sugar
500g unrefined dark muscovado cane sugar
500g unrefined molasses cane sugar
500g unrefined golden granulated sugar
1 kg unrefined golden castor sugar
and unrefined golden icing sugar
It is all Bilingtons brand - but the castor sugar tastes totally different to refined sugar by companies such as Tate and Lyle and can be tasted in normal victoria sponge. It wasn't a success
Also the icing sugar is a yucky brown colour and taste yucky too. I know that's bad as it's much better for you as it's unrefined, but I can't stand it?!:o
What on earth can I make to use all this up????

A lot of these will be useful in Christmas recipes like C/cake C/ pud and mincemeat.
The icing sugar is more of a challenge, if you really don't like the taste I'd bin it if it was mine rather than let it spoil other ingredients0 -
Body scrubs as Christmas presents?0

Sugar is sugar, it will still pile on the pounds, rot your teeth, cause candida overgrowth, whether it's refined or unrefined.
Would you be able to make gingerbread or something like, with loads of spices in it to mask the "yucky taste" you mention. You could make a batch to see how it turns out and if any good, make some as Xmas presents etc, or gingerbread men. Toffee and/or toffee apples for Halloween, give them away for trick/treaters etc.
Check out www.allrecipes.com for details of recipes, all rated etc so you shouldn't end up with a dud recipe.“Ordinary riches can be stolen, real riches cannot. In your soul are infinitely precious things that cannot be taken from you.” - Oscar Wilde0 -
Flapjacks or home made biscuits?"This site is addictive!"
Wooligan 2 squares for smoky - 3 squares for HTA
Preemie hats - 2.0 -
Toffee should be good. You can make small batches and mix and match the sugars to your taste. Failures? Give them away
Just because you don't like a particular flavour doesn't mean to say that everyone else won't either

I use unrefinded sugar all the time and cannot taste the difference. Never seen icing sugar tho.
If you've time pick some blackberry's and make jam. Don't know if it would taste different tho.
