credit rating and divorce

Options
I'm recently divorced.
All loans (only one) in joint names has been paid back. We had no credit cards or other loans, mortgage etc in joint names.
Do I have to let any companies like Experian or Credit expert know?
He is on my credit file as a linked associate.
Will he effect my credit rating in the future or me his?
thanks

It won't affect you if there is no adverse credit information. However now you are divorced you should get the association removed. If he defaulted or failed to make payments on any future credit agreement then it would affect you.

Simply being married/divorced and/or occupying the same house as someone else has no effect whatsoever, but if you share a financial product with someone else (eg. joint bank account), then you are financially linked and the management of your own affairs could have a knock-on effect on his credit rating and vice versa.

In her OP she says they had a joint loan so they will be financially linked. Get the association removed.

Once your joint a/cs are separated, write to the credit reference agencies and ask for a notice of disassociation, to stop his credit history affecting yours in the future and vice versa. ;)

Thanks - I'll start looking in to that then. We have nothing in joint names anymore. But I don't want his credit effecting mine or vise versa.

    Thanks
