Where to find a daily budget planner?

Hi everyone
I've used Martin's Budget Planner, now know where my overspending is and have a new budget for the next year. However, I now want to set up an Excel spreadsheet to enable me to track daily spending, which will automatically show me how much I have left for each part of the budget (e.g. if I buy some petrol, how much is now left out of the monthly budget for petrol?) But I don't know much about Excel, have no idea the best way to set out the sheet, or to enter calculations and was wondering if there was a ready-made one somewhere that I could use instead?
Anyone know? (Or can recommend how to set it out in Excel)?

PS Feeling really good about new budget; great to feel more in control of finances - now I just have to put it into action!

Sounds like all you need are some very simple calculations in excel. you can go to excel help to get directions but what you need is to, say, enter your weekly budget in the first row so you have a column for each category, skip two rows then start entering your spends for each category. then in the row directly below your budget (say for column A) type =sum(a4:a20) - the second number will depend on how many entries you need to add each week but it doesn't matter if some of the cells are empty as these will be added as zeros. then in the next cell (A3 in this case) type =a1-a2 . this will give you your remaining allowance. you can play around with this - add titles in row 1 and/or column A, change the font of your remaining allowance etc. as long as your calculations reference the correct cell numbers it doesnt matter where you put things in the worksheet. you can copy and paste the formulas if you like - again just check they are referencing the correct cells before you start using it. also, you dont have to enter the budget row each time you start a new week - you can keep referencing the same row from anywhere in the worksheet
  • Thanks for this Lindsay-Lou. Not entirely sure I follow your instructions but will give it a go! (may come back to you .... )

I've actually done something similar myself so let me know if you get stuck - i can send you a copy of my spreadsheet
  • I spend a lot of money without knowing where the money goes. I would like a simple spreadsheet as well just for daily/monthly expenditures.

    Anyone please?
    Thanks

I use www.spendingdiary.com a lot, easy to use, this of course wouldn't give the 'what's left' figures but great as a diary as I can access it wherever I am, from whichever computer I use with it being online.
One day I might be more organised...........
