Furniture Companies scotchguarding...

I just wondered what others thought about paying for DFS, FurnitureLand etc to scotchguard/stain proof sofas. Do you think its effective and worth the money? Can you do it yourself at home instead? Any thoughts appreciated

I remember some people saying they scotchguard every sofa whether you pay for it or not (the manufacterers). They just try and get you to pay for it.

ooh I really do hope that is true - I ordered my new Gracie sofa from DFS on the 11th and after being given the spiel went for the scotguard at an extra £80. Came home and did a bit of googling and looked on here and phoned up a couple of days later to get it omitted from the order.

It would be great if they did do it anyway but I can always get it online for £10 and spray it on myself!

As an aside forget what you hear about DFS taking forever to deliver, got a phonecall on Friday to let me know said sofa was ready - just hope it fits :j

Salesman at DFS tried to tell us we were the FIRST people he'd ever known not to take the scotchguarding. This was met by much raising of eyebrow from Mr Phirefly (a salesman himself)
