Archiving e-mails

I would like to save all my e-mails from my Hotmail account onto my hard disk and then archive them onto a CD. I know how to do this on individual e-mail basis but this would be far too time consuming for the amount of e-mails I have. Is there way I could speed up the process? I was thinking along the lines of downloading them using Outlook Express, however from there I can't work out how to do a 'batch save' (of such a thing exists!).

Any ideas gratefully received!!

Simplest way i'm aware of is simply to locate the mailboxes you want to archive and just copy them from that location to the cd / backup media of your choice. To locate your Mailbox, select "Tools/Options/Maintenance/Store Folder". You will see the local path of your Mailbox displayed and the choices of "Change", "OK", or "Cancel". Write down the file name or remember it etc etc and go to it using windows explorer - copy and so on.

To use the mailboxes again then use the above menu's but select 'Change' and point the path at the archived mailbox. Then just change back when you've finished.

What about a Gmail account, then you don't need to save your emails anywhere else

Thanks - the issue is'nt the storage space on Hotmail. It's that I wanted my own copies in case my Hotmail was de-activated and I lost the e-mails. I also wanted to clean up my folders as there were a lot of messages that I want to keep but do not read often.

smcicr: Thanks - I'll have a go at your suggestion

Mr Skint - I've managed to make some back ups using the utilities on Tucows....some good stuff on that site!
