Based on the painstakingly funny real-life experiences of the programme’s creator, the show follows the life and times of Charlie Harper (Sheen, Spin City, Platoon) a successful and respected advertising career-man living out a luxurious, sun-soaked lifestyle in Malibu. Times have been good for Charlie up until recently with women falling at his feet, a tranquil beach house and a shiny new Mercedes in the garage, that is until his brother Alan (Jon Cryer, Hot Shots! Pretty in Pink) and Alan’s son Jake (Angus T Jones, The Rookie) crash into his life. Uptight, geeky Alan has divorced his neurotic wife, Judith (Marin Hinkle, Without a Trace, Law & Order) and lost his home, leaving them no choice but to move in with Charlie.
Now Charlie has to become second dad to Jake and new best friend to Alan, not an easy task for a commitment-phobic freewheeling single man. The boys’ promiscuous, trendy, mother; Evelyn (Holland Taylor, The Truman Show) is a continual annoyance to Charlie and Alan as they do their best to escape her controlling embrace.
TWO AND A HALF MEN is a sharp comedy about two brothers and a son, as well as the crazy and charismatic women who surround them. It’s a side-splittingly funny story of parenthood, friendship, sex, dating, sibling relations and most importantly, love. As Charlie, Alan and Jake attempt to find a comfortable medium; hilarity and warm-hearted humour ensue.
