Believe that energycare are something to do with Marks Group - has recently risen from £99 to £125 (each for cavity and loft, but further discounts for some people eg benefits) but still a good deal.

Anon (PS - have posted the above company in reply to a number of cavity wall questions recently - I am not connected to the company at all just used them in the past month!)0 -
Do you Have to be a home owner to have loft of cavitiy insualtions and also central heating? If a parent is on benefit and living with their son/daugter in their sons/daughters house are they still entitled to any of the above mentioned benefits?0

Hi, we are delighted with our cavity wall insulation, and thorughout this very cold weather it has made a huge difference after the heating has been turned off, the house stays a lot warmer for much longer.0

I had my house walls cavity foamed 30 years ago. Does anyone know how long it lasts, do I need it doing again?0

My Mum just had the £75 cavity wall offer from Powergen done yesterday, she lives in Lincoln. The men turned up at 8am and by all accounts did a very good job. She says it was well worth the £75 and they left her with a certificate guaranteeing it for 20 years.
It is important to have responsible workmen doing this job. It is one thing I will emphasise when I ask my supplier. My next door neighbour had all sorts of problems with the people who came to his house. They managed to mess up his electricity system.0 -
Have been thinking about cavity wall insulation - it's the weak point of my house - but am feeling unsure now, having read through the thread.
Is there any more information or examples people could share please?0 -
I don't know about examples but reading about the damp and condensation caused by cavity wall insulation, it is putting me off the idea. Even with the government grant making it cheaper. I knew they would be a downside to the government 'help'. If it is anything like the rest of Gordons schemes it will be half baked and sub-standard. I have visions of contractors making a killng out of the subsidy and doing quick bodge jobs on many houses a day leaving a poor standard of insulation which will cause damp.0

This post is nonsense. Years back there were problems but I haven't heard of any for years. Had ours done for free 3yrs ago and the house is a lot warmer and stays warm longer after the heating goes off. Good sound insulation too. AND no damp or condensation problems either.
As for keeping the cavity clear, the materials used do not allow the passage of moisture across the cavity and a certain amount of air is still present.0
