Help needed regarding garden fencing

Two years ago i painted my garden fence a blue colour, the thing is i have had to replace 5 panels due to the fact that they got damaged in strong winds.

The thing is now i want to paint them all one colour, the thing is i don't want to strip all the blue off as i have around 20 panels and that would take forever.

The thing i want to know is will a colour such as red or dark brown go over this blue? or would it look a totally different colour if applied over the blue?

Thanks.

If you use some of the higher quality finishes, they have a much denser colour and coverage, you should be okay.
  • try painting a bit of the blue panel first to see what its like with a few colours (choose a hidden bit if possible...) ;)

  • I am resurrecting this old post from 2008 because I have exactly the same problem and would just like a little bit more information.

I am on a very limited budget so I can't afford to test lots of products or make a mistake with the products I do buy.

The blue panels were painted using something like the Cuprinol Shades range in the Mediterranean blue shade that was popular in the days of Changing Rooms.

I don't mind painting some panels more than once, if it will give an even finish.

What I want to know is what kind of products out there at the moment will do the job? Can someone give me some examples please?

    Thank you.

    Anybody please?

I was wondering if Cuprinol's Ducks Back would work.

It might. I use it myself on my fences. You'd have to test a bit to see.

  • Thanks for your reply. Have you used it to paint over another colour?
