Sky was formed and released their first album in 1979
In 1983, John re-formed "John Williams & Friends" an ensemble originally formed in the early 70's.
Not sure which answer they want.

Fridays question has now been changed to "Friday's Question: John Williams was a member of which 1980s instrumental group?"
It no longer says "formed in the 1980's"
As he played with SKY until 1983 and John Williams and Friends from 1983, both of these must be correct answers.
