renting with poor credit

hi, i`m new to the forum today and am hoping someone can put me in the right direction.

my new partner and i are looking at renting a place, we are both at the moment living back at home with our parents and are saving 600 a month a each to move out at the end of august (we want 5 grande behind when we move to help with deposit etc)

Now, i am (due to being irresponsible when i was younger - there is no excuse for it) am 2-1/2 yrs into an iva - i know i will fail any credit check made on me, my partner has no adverse credit - she has a car loan of 7k and never missed a payment and a cc with 200 quid on it, she has gone over this limit occaisonally but has never missed a payment - she had a cc in 2003 (before we met) wich she defaulted on in november 2003 but settled in full in jan 2004. - her credit score is not great - she has scored 351 with experian, she has no record of lending from them, she has scored 640 with callcredit and 514 with equifax.

this is getting long winded but basically are we likely to be able to rent? im soo angry with myself as i see the iva as holding us both back now, i know its the price i have to pay but i am now SO responsible with my money and i know i can afford to start a new life with my new partner but am frightened we will get turned down everywhere. - worse case scenario is we could pay 6 months rent upfront but would that just a be deposit or would we actually then have 6 months to save the next lot up?

sorry about this dragging on as a first post
