BT sign up/credit checks

Okay, I have a question. I share a house with a friend and the various reasons when we first moved in, we did the BT line in my name. I am now moving and we plan to transfer the BT line to my friends (he actually now owns the house and is staying). Even before I decided to move out, I'd been on at him to get it transfered over to his name (we can do something called a 'working line transfer') however, he's put it off since Feb/March as he claims he's had lots of credit searches by the mortgage company etc in Jan/Feb and wants to wait until June because they take 3 months to clear or something like that.
Anyway my question is this, do credit checks by utlitiy companies like BT have say the same impact on your credit file as a say a credit card application search? They say lots of credit searches in a short space of time is bad for your credit file, but I'm assuming even if he had several checks by various companies, something like a BT bill isn't of significant financial outlay to get rejected if he's had a few credit search that month/3 months unless he had really bad credit too start with, yes or no?

The information BT gets won't have anything to do with searches, but more the to do with the credit scoring system the credit agency uses and the credit score will be affected by the number of searches.
But in most instances, it will result in a £50 deposit being required for service. If saved £2710 and only spent the interest (Based on a return of 5%), you would have enough money to pay your TV Licence every year. Saving you £7452.50 over a period of 55 years, based on you buying a license from the age of 20 until your 75 at a cost of £135.50.0 -
whenever i have got my credit report i have never noticed bt doing credit seraches on my name or address and i have had numerous account with them
although they do state a credit search MAY be carried out there is no guarntee that they will - they may check however that you dont owe them money from a previous property.0
