Thanks for a quick reply NorthernLas...
It is a debt I have with J D Williams...a catalogue...maybe I should have gone to the CAB earlier when I got into payment difficulties...
The papers look official....I looked up the Insolvency Act 1986 section 268 (1)(a) they look the same...they have just filled in the blanks...I don't have the funds to pay the whole amount...is it too late to make a weekly offer?
I also received a letter today also from Connaught Collections who have been instructed to recover the debt for /1st Credit Ltd/J D William in 7days saying the Credit Bureau shows I have sufficient assets to settle our debt...that would be my house... worth about £80,000...mortgage of £15,000....£25,000 in Equity Loans to the local council...
I can't get a second mortgage I can't work...I am disabled...I don't have the funds to sell my house but then where would I live?
Many thanks

Hi
CC are trying to terrify you into paying because you have assets.
When did you take out the catalogue? Was there PPI and do you have the default letter? If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
Irene
They are very unlikely to make you bankrupt and are doing this to scare you, and doing a damn fine job of it by the looks of it.
Send a CCA request tomorrow, get it sent registered post or even guaranteed if you can afford it. They will then return the case to 1st Credit who will then start badgering you. But we can deal with them at a later date.
You have to apply to get the Stauatory demand set aside. Ring National Debtline and ask there advice on this, tonight before 9 or tomorrow morning.
They are trying to bully you into admitting the debt as its getting close to being barred.
Question.
When did you last acknowledge this debt? ie make any sort of payment? if its over six years ago then you can tell them to go away.I'm Debt Free :j 2/09/2013
Debt at LBM 30/04/2010 £24,109.38,0
