Does anybody know of a good little clean and quiet hotel or B&B for us ( two wrinklies ) to stay at for a couple of nights; as we'd like to go and see the illuminations.
Also any suggestions as best way to see the lights? Car, coach or is there a train on the front?
All advice appreciated.
Cheers - Happy

Being wrinklies you may remember that classic Coronation Street episode when Rita Fairclough's bad boy lover was run over by a TRAM on Blackpool sea-front.
It's the best way to see the Illuminations - you might even be lucky to catch the illuminated tram.
Then it's a fish supper and a couple of nightcaps to warm you up.

I would personally go for the New President Hotel, I am the manager of a tour operator and we use that hotel quite a lot and do put a large number of coach tours for older people there and have had no complaints.
Not sure of the number off the top of my head but if you phone them ask for Sandra, she is really helpful and will probably give you a good price.
Also the Hotel is currently on BBC1's Hotel on Sea (Thursdays at 7pm)
Hope this helps.0 -
Happy - I have emailed you as my Hotel is a bit lost on the referral board but it's small, modern and not at all pricey, heres the link http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=88380
I would take an open tram (there is one shaped like a boat) or horse and carriage if the weather is fine to get a great view of the illuminations. The trams go all along the front or you can drive, it gets very busy and can take a long time to do the whole promenade but it is worth it. Midweek is usually quieter unless it's half term (last half of October) The end of the illuminations is on bonfire night so it should be a good weekend with lots of fireworks.0 -
We have stayed at this one a few times, and been delighted with it. They are a very friendly couple, the breakfasts are good, and it is well situated. They don't allow groups of rowdies so it is ideal for a peaceful stay.

Does anyone know how much it costs for the horse and carriage from one end of the lights to the other and the same Q for a tram. We are thinking of going there next month 2 adults and 3 children.0
