Question regarding house type

Greetings all,
Have a question which might seem stupid to some, but here goes...
I bought a town house in a new development about a year ago (the terrace consist of 3 houses, mine is one of the end ones).
When looking in house prices sites, my house appears as "terraced". the other end terraced house appears as "semi-detached". when looking at similar houses at my location, some appears as "terraced" and some as "semi-detached" (the exact same houses). does this mean anything? should I do something regarding this? not sure where those sites are getting this data? land registry?
Hope my question is clear enough. any help most appreciated!

I am not surprised you are confused. Semi detached to me has always meant just 2 houses with a connecting wall. Mind you I don't think of a terrace being just 3 houses either as tend to imagine more houses then this.
Just did a wilki and this is what they say.......
ISemi-detached housing (often abbreviated to semi in the UK, Canada, and Australia, as in "three-bedroom semi," consists of pairs of houses built side by side as units sharing a party wall and usually in such a way that each house's layout is a mirror image of its twin.
By the early Victorian period, a terrace had come to designate any style of housing where individual houses repeating one design are conjoined into rows either long or short.
Not any help I think because a semi could be called a very short terrace I suppose!

The semi I live in is listed on the LR as terraced too.
And no, I can't explain it I'm afraid.

It will have had planning permission granted as a terrace, as under the planning regulations act a terrace is defined as '3 or more houses connected by at least one wall'. If you were to apply for an extension in the future, it would also be judged as a terraced house, and the allowances are different from terraces to semis.
I don't think you should do anything to change it, as yours is recorded correctly.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

Just a guess but could it be related to who is selling the house. It might be worth looking on the sites to see which solicitor/EA has listed them. A semi sounds more aspirational than a terraced and is a wee bit closer to the holy grail - a detached :rotfl:If you always do what you have always done, you will always get what you always got!0 -

Thanks for the replies. where do they take this information from? the land registry? if so, who updates the LR? the developer? council?
Also, some insurance companies told me they refer to "end terraced" as "semi-detached", which makes things a bit more confusing...
Just wondering if I should do something about this or not, if I can do something or not, and why this is happening to begin with (same type houses should show as the same type online/LR).0 -
It's irrelevant what it's called. The only time you need to call it something is when you're selling - and whatever you call it a potential buyer will be able to see what it is. It's an end terrace.0

Do you know what a quasi semi is?
I've seen houses listed at this but can't work it out.0 -

I guess you're right PasturesNew. eventually the house is standing for everyone to look at regardless of what I or someone else call it...
