Sainsbury's mag-£5 Dr Gillian voucher

I think from reading previous threads that Sainsbury's mag vouchers work inTesco, If so then this month has a great £5 off Dr Gillian McKeith products which will be great. :j There are lots of other vouchers too of course, to make it up to £12.50. I will try tomorrow, but would be interested to know if its likely to work
Also there are leaflets with £5 off when you spend £20 on Tu products ( clothing). I wonder if they would transfer to Tesco or not? They have a barcode.
I hope so as I have benefitted so much this week from reading tips from other people. :T

Yes the Gillian McKeith voucher scans at Tesco. Whether the checkout assistant will accept it is luck of the draw.

Not sure if the Tu voucher would work, am tempted to try...
  • Think it might be worth a few more magazines... Mine scanned this morning too, and then I paid for the rest of my day's stuff with Joeys. Apart from the emmenthal, which I got back as it was mispriced.
  • The tu voucher does work- feel a bit weak at the knees.Do you think its unethical? I suppose if Tesco think it is worth their while to take them, that is their decision in the marketplace. As for Sainsbury- surely they won't mind us taking money off Tesco?
Went to get some more this afternoon...

Wow, I feel bad enough trying to get a single Joey accepted, but more than one? Maybe it is people doing this that makes it so hard to spend them.

No I don't think it is unethical. It is Tesco's decision. I just wish that the checkout operators could understand this.
  • I used my £5 in Tesco today. The boy on till asked if I payed or was it a free mag from sainisbury said it cost £1 20. |He replyed I must get some of them £5 for one coupon is good.

I used the Tu voucher in Tesco yesterday as well, but I was actually buying the £20 worth of clothes. :)

I only used 2- but the checkout person seemed happy to take as many as I had. I tentatively offered them-'To see if any of these are any good'- he said ' If it scans, I'll take it.'
I do feel confused in my own mind however, as if it is ok to use one, is it ok to use 2, or 3 or 4? I've read people on the site who don't seem to pay for anything, which sounds great but...
If the store don't mind, and want to compete with Sainsburys by following this policy, they must think it is worthwhile. Or am I just justifying exploiting what is effectively a loophole in their policy.

They do need to make it clear. My girlfriend was refused when she tried to use a 25p coupon in Tesco the other day. The operator said the policy had changed over a year ago and the aim was to prevent "fraud". What a load of rubbish. I wish I had been there to find out more about how Tesco till staff are fighting financial crime in the United Kingdom!

I think the supermarkets should set a sensible but generous limit of 25% in coupons, most ordinary people wouldn't get near this, and it would stop people taking the p*ss too. Then you could use 4 Joey's if you were spending £50, but not pay for an entire shop with them.
