Well we are now on the final lap to C day - containerisation day of our house.
I need somewhere to vent, and to write things down to try and get them done, so hope this is ok
Things to do
Find the insurance form. If we don't fill that in and the container does a swan dive off the deck:eek: , then no money to buy a whole houses worth of stuff.
Gulp,
Right see you all later when I have found the blasted stupid piece of paper:mad:

Hi SS no still haven't found the blinking thing. However I have to confess to going over to a friends house and ending up watching the gloucester leicester semi final (they have sky and we don't so it was a real treat!).
But even so I have made progress, I have boxed up some dvd's, my cookery books, and some of the boys toys. Plus got rid of a book case today, with another one and a hoover going on Tuesday. This means at the very least I have to pack another book cases worth of books.
I should point out that they will get repacked by the packers, but I haven't got anywhere to put the books I unstack, sigh.
DS'S are asking questions now. Had to do the REALLY sad one today of explaining that it would be cruel to put our two elderly puss cats through the rigours of the journey, then quarantine. One is 20 and the other is 17, so 140 and 119 in human years. They took it very well considering, but heaven know what I am going to do with them as I have had no success finding them a home yet.
right off to find this stupid list

Well I gave up in the end and had a flash of inspiration. So I emailed the company and asked them to send me a PDF version of this stupid piece of paper. Which they did hurray. Now just have to work out how much everything is worth:eek:
Still feeling very virtuous as I have posted out a mega amount of ebay stuff today. So that is done. My office is looking quite spartan.
Also more stuff went to new homes on freecycle yesterday :A
But have a bit of a dilemma. I have a britax stage 2 car seat. It is fine BUT, when I was trying to get the cover off the wrong way, I broke a bit of the polystyrene padding in two. Now both bits are still there and don't move about when the cover is on. So the dilemma is to list it honestly on freecycle, or to just take it to the tip?
Advice welcome
chev
Edited to add. Just had my new tv licence through. Phoned them up to ask how I cancel the direct debit etc, and found out that we are £70 in credit, so we will get that back:beer:I want a job that is less than an hour driving away from my house! Are you listening universe?

Bearing in mind how long you have, sadly probably the tip. Someone may pull it out for their use though!
have you found a home for the cats yet?0 -
Not yet. We do have a port of very last resort for them, ie somewhere they could go whilst that couple found them a permanent home. So that is one worry less.
Also though the house will be packed on thursday/friday, we are camping in the house for another week to oversea (well probably annoy!) the decorators and sundry others that are coming. The boys also have holiday club to go to which they love.
So I can concentrate on the cat issue then.

Hi chev, I've just found this thread - you sound very organised, well done! Definitely list the carseat on Freecycle, someone may well want it. Hope all goes smoothly with the packing.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620

Wow what a night mare two days. When it came to filling in the insurance form it was only at the nth hour that we found out that we had to do exact counts of all items - yes even clothes items and book. We have ALOT of these so it took us ages to count them all!
Then when it came to the total to put on the form it has to balance exactly with the number you phone to the office. So spent last night getting the prices to match!
So now all the hard work by us is done. The container is here and the two men are doing a stirling job of packing our posessions into it. I am helping by supplying tea on demand!
It feels pretty weird seeing everything go by. So now we are comitted to going!
gulp

You'll be fine Chev - when will you arrive at your new home & when will the house contents turn up? Have you got long to manage without the vital thing that is guaranteed to be in the container when it's needed?!0
