Halifax Regular Saver - closed by Halifax

My partner's just received a letter from Halifax informing her that the 7% Regular Saver account opened back in November 2007 has been closed as it hasn't received funds of between £25 & £250 in the last month. They have transferred the funds to a Web Saver account and paid it a lower rate of interest.
The account from where the standing order comes from is an Alliance & Leicester account and this account has been feeding £250 monthly since opening the account in November.
I've checked the A&L account where the standing order has indeed been made on the 2nd of every month and hasn't missed any payments nor have there been any withdrawals from the Halifax Regular Saver.
We've contacted Halifax where they will need to forward the details to their business centre as they have no access to the account because it is closed.
Has anybody experienced the same? I'm assuming that a new account will have to be opened unless they can sort out this mess.
TIA

I had that with a building society last year, they claimed the money wasn't going from my bank account to theirs. It was and had been going all along, but somehow there wasn't a reference on it so they kept it in a holding account until I asked what was happening with it.
I had to write to head office a few times before anything got sorted.
Good luck.0
