Lady denies making repeat calls to my number

This isn't a massive problem, but it's really beginning to bug me.
For months I've had calls on my home phone from a residential number that I don't know. The first few times I wasn't home to receive the call, but saw the number listed in my received calls list. It was memorable as it has an area code that I have never used.
One morning at around 6:30am I was woken up by a call from the number, and it sounded like an elderly lady. She said she had the wrong number and was very sorry. This is the only time I have managed to answer one of the calls.
After that I have recieved around two calls a month, often ringing once or twice before cutting off. I've called the number back twice, within minutes of the calls, and spoken to what I believe to be the same elderly lady. I have been very nice about it, but she denies calling, or even attempting ANY calls at these times. She says she is on her own, so it can't be anyone else.
I know I can have her number blocked, but I'd rather find out what is going on! The calls are all daytime, and often on a Sunday, and are from an area where we don't know anyone.
Could there be some genuine technical reason for this? I have spoken to my phone company (Toucan), but they weren't very interested.

It's most likely an old lady with memory problems. My advice would be to block the number and simply move on.
Edit - it's unlikely to be a tech issue.0 -
I'd say the same as greyster0

Maybe she is just dialing wrong number.
Just block it and move on.0 -
I'm fairly sure she IS simply dialing the wrong number. However, even with my very friendly approach, she denies trying to make any phone call at all, even moments after her number shows up on my phone.
Will arrange to have her blocked. Thanks for the replies.0 -
If you think she is doing it on purpose ring her back on 0800 reverse.
It will cost her a fortune.
Please don't do it really but it could be a good way to get someone back.0 -

We used to get this with an elderly person, who was slightly confused, and just lived with it, until 1 day we had the same call, and we sensed that something was not right, the person was more confused than ever so we referred it to the social services emergency line, just on a hunch. Several hours later, we got a call back from social services, no details, but many thanks for reporting it.After the uprising of the 17th June The Secretary of the Writers Union
Had leaflets distributed in the Stalinallee Stating that the people
Had forfeited the confidence of the government And could win it back only
By redoubled efforts. Would it not be easier In that case for the government
To dissolve the people
And elect another?0 -

We had the identical problem ourselves a few years ago. In our case the elderly lady was coherent and also left messages thinking we were the doctor's surgery. On ringing her back she told me the name of the surgery., but was adamant that she was ringing the number on their letterhead. I looked up the surgery on the net. It was one digit out from our number, and called them myself. They confirmed that there had been a misprint & apologised. I gave them the ladies telephone number to call. Sometime later the lady rang us again to thank us.
These things happen. You just get a little concerned when there are old people involved.0
