First supplier for new home needed

My partner and I have just purchased a house which we move into next week. I'm very well informed with regards to price comparisions sites and how to switch current supplier etc. But how do I find the best deal on electric and gas (online) for a home with no current supply??? Are there bargains to be had?:confused:

    It will have a supply provided by the builder. You need to take over the existing supply first and then switch to another provider.

  • New builds are normaly linked in for 3 months but you can get a good deal by going paperless straight away. I'm happy with eon and it's the cheapest for me until april next year.
    Lets get this straight. Say my house is worth £100K, it drops £20K and I complain but I should not complain when I actually pay £200K via a mortgage:rolleyes:

    All new builds must have a supplier when you move in, which will be based on what the developer chose. For larger developers, this will be based on which company paid them the most money to acquire your business. When you move in, you'll be a 'deemed' customer of the new supplier - which is likely to be one of their most expensive rates. At the very least you need to make contact with your supplier to get on to their contract rate.

    Your builder should go through details of the supplier during house handover, including getting an agreed meter reading for the day you take over possession - make sure you check it, so you don't end up paying for what they've used during building!
