ANOTHER APOLOGY - just saw that there was a question.0

Thank you very much for your apology chesky369
I took ages to post after my first time here, because I was shocked at the venom. So I lurked a while (mainly on property boards because like most foolish British people I want to buy a house, lol) and 'got used to it'. I think those of us who DO use forums/boards forget that some people don't (eg my DH, he really doesn't) and when they venture on, especially somewhere like this rather than a teen networking site and they don't phrase things brilliantly then we'll never know if they are ''trolls'' or genuine posters- not everyone is internet forum savvy. As it is, DH felt he did query, by asking how people thought it would effect the best saving account's interest rate.
I really really like the MSE boards, I spend more and more time here, and I have receive really great replies from other posters BUT it is with the big reservation that sometimes people here are just plain rude and it seems to spiral.
All that rant over, I do appreciate your sentiment, and thank you or being gracious enoug to apologise.0 -
Now I'm sorry!....crossposted with your second apology.0

Unfortunately your understanding of tenses is even worse than your spelling. A prediction of future falls, including mine, is not the same as saying, as you did, that there is "A housein (sic) market that is in freefall". Can you really not not understand the difference?0

Would you prefer a grammatically correct, but economically illiterate "we have a stable economy"..?0

Has Ian thought of emigrating to Iceland
?
The Telegraph's take on the Nordic Banks' support contrasts slightly with some views on this thread
".....Björn Gudmundsson, an economist at Landsbanki, said the Bank of England might need to join the Nordic front to stop the crisis spreading.
Icelanders have become big investors in Britain. They have borrowed heavily on the sterling market to launch bids for a clutch of high street names.
There are concerns that the Icelandic system as a whole could turn into an "offshore Northern Rock".
Lars Christensen, an economist at Danske Bank, said the swap deal would make it harder for speculators to short the krona but would not stop Iceland plunging into a deep recession.
"Economically, this changes nothing. Iceland is one of the most indebted countries in the world," he said. Paul Rawkins, of Fitch Ratings, said the country's external debt had reached $97bn, five times the size of the economy. " The markets had begun to doubt whether the government had the resources to rescue the banks," he said.
Iceland has evolved into a sovereign hedge fund...."0 -

Not that long ago there was a spate of 1st posters that either praised or slammed a certain company never to be seen again, they vanished when their integrity was questioned. This site is looked at as a benchmark for what is happening in the big wide world out there, sometimes that may be abused by certain institutions.

But how do you know thy didn't vanish because they were intimidated?:o I'm not denying there are misdoings here, and elsewere on the net. But as much trolling as I've seen here (an yes, I've seen some too) there is more rudeness and intimiating posts within longstanding posters and first time posters here.
The fact that this was miscontrued and someone (ie me) is able to say that this is not that instance, makes me wonder how many jumped upon people sily don't came back to defend their inital post.
If this is a benchmark on what's happening 'out there' then society is as messed up as our finances  and genuine posters would perhaps be better to draw out and expose or report institutions abusing in this way rather than behaving like carrion.
ETA: one of the things on the screen at the right says 'Please be nice to all money savers.'0 -
"But how do you know thy didn't vanish because they were intimidated"
Well, it's kind of chicken and egg syndrome - at first, no-one over-reacted to these posters, but a pattern seemed to emerge. This was all a couple of months ago and, believe me, there are extremely long and hysterical threads of this kind which I'd hoped we had seen the back of.
PS - please let's not go on about one anothers' (?) grammar and spelling - that way madness lies on this board.0 -
Thanks for the back ground chesky369. But I think my point stands. and the pattern remaining seems to be unpleasant too! People inevitably get hysterical enough when worrying about their money I imagine, but as you noted in this case a genuine post was made, we cannt know how many of the others were or were not....and surely it is the remit of admin/mods not us to do other than report posts?
I agree wholeheartedly about the spelling grammar thing. Its very frustrating to many but, it really doen't impact on the points raised. I hate my own typos and mistakes ( I have worn out three keyboards in as many years with overzealous typing and sometimes my letters stick, rofl) the errors of others annoy me less.0
