  • re the comment about not bothering to buy a thermometer- I disagree

    I don't think anyone should or is suggesting that we should rely on temperature alone - naturally as parents we will take notice of their general condition and yes they can be very poorly without a high temp.

    But a thermometer is a great idea if you wish to ensure their temperature is not dangerously high
    a hand is no good for that and different children will fit hot in different places
    for example I know when my second child is very very hot with fever if his hands and feet feel like they are burnign up but my two daughters never seem to get hot hands and feet like their brother

    I also think sometimes it can reassuring to see that although they are poorly that their temperature is normal

    the digital thermometer are far better than those annoying forehead strips that you have to hold down so firmly your child goes nuts!

  • Got one from lloyds last week.

    It's a lovely little unit and works well. And yes, of course I tested my own temperature (twice!)
