cheers for that i tried to get one also from tesco but no joy, i dont know where this is a lloyds pharmacy i live in the north east

My nearest store has plenty, so they say! So I'll be off to get one this afternoon, If you'd like me to get one for you PM your details and I could post it to you.
  • The digital thermometer from Lloydspharmacy comes with a pack of 10 disposable attachments to prevent in contamination. But not only that, within the pack you get a 50p off voucher for you next purchase of attachments. Which come in packs of 40(I think) for £1.99.
Lloydspharmacy regulary have great offers which they refere to as 'Treat for you' these change throughout the year but there is always some sort of health promotion running. Last month they were selling small sized fire extinguishers for £4.99 and previous to that they were selling first aid boxes with a built in torch containing basic essential first aid items for only £1.99.

Keep an eye out in your local Lloydspharmacy for their current offer its always a bargain :o

Also they have a good range of christmas gifts many of which are Buy one get one free :o
  • As a nurse practitioner I would recommend that you all save your money - it doesn't matter what the childs temperature is its the condition of the child that counts. Some children can have a high temperature and be very well others become very unwell with a relatively low grade temperature. I have 4 children and have never had a thermometer I know when my children are hot and how to keep them cool. I think its only adds to stress levels if you are constantly worrying about how high their temperature is. Keep it simple and if you are worried seek medical advice, most gps or a&e depts would prefer to see you and put your mind at rest than you sit at home worrying

I have to agree. I follow the technique passed down through my family for generations. The hand on the forehead, or back.

My children have been unwell, with infections and all sorts of other illnesses without any sign of a temperature.

I've got one of these, I work for Lloyds so got a staff discount as well. They are really good. Apparently digital thermometers were reviewed in a national paper this week and this particular one scored 10 out of 10.

Barjam Lloyds are a big company ( I was told a couple of years ago that they are a bigger chain than boots, don't know if this is still true though), I'm sure there will be one close by to you

used the pharmacy locator within 20+ miles non was found never mind all good comes to those who wait (gonna have to wait if i want a bargain ;D ;D)
  • These are very good. I am a nurse as well (sister for eight years), and it is nonsense to say do not worry about your childs temperature. Childrens temperatures are the most difficult to assess, and this method is quick and safe. Hospitals have a very slap dash approach to hygiene I am sad to say, and will use the covers more than once on teh same child/adult. When used as directed, these type of thermometers are very acurate, dispose of the cover after use, do not use on a child with an ear infection, but you can always take a skin suface temperature. Very very good value, I have just bought two.
